You might benefit from PrEP.
As a first step, you should visit your local sexual health clinic to have a sexual health check up and discuss your needs with a doctor or a nurse.
Here are your other options:
- Depending on where you live, you might be eligible for an NHS-funded clinical trial. You will receive PrEP for free and have to visit the clinic every 3 months for a check up. There are still places available in many areas.
- Buy generic PrEP. Remember to have an HIV test before starting PrEP and get check ups every 3 months at your local sexual health clinic.
- Call THT Direct on 0808 802 1221 for more information on PrEP.
- Terrence Higgins Trust has recently launched The Mags Portman PrEP Access Fund which is a means-tested service for those who cannot afford PrEP.
If you think you have been exposed to HIV within the last 3 days (72 hours) you might need PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis). Use our online assessment tool to find out if it’s suitable for you to take PEP.
